Celtic rolled into the final eight of the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon to continue their hopes of clinching a fourth consecutive domestic treble.
The Hoopes eased past League One outfit Clyde at the Broadwood Stadium to set up a tie with St Johnstone in the next round.
Oliver Ntcham and skipper Scott Brown gave the SPFL giants an imposing lead at half-time before Vakoun Bayo added a third in the game’s dying stages to wrap up the victory.
Hoops boss Neil Lennon made six changes, opting to start his mainstay midfielder over resting him, and the 34-year-old’s goal and performance has got fans talking.
Here’s what has been said:
Fans were full of praise for the long-serving Scot as he made his 559th appearances for the Bhoys, per Transfermarkt’s recorded matches – also his 42nd of this season alone. Quite a return for a man in his mid-thirties.
“Absolute legend” and “outstanding” were two phrases used to talk up Brown whilst one supporter reminded everyone that it would be a mighty hard task trying to replace him when he finally decides to hang up his boots.
His first-half strike led to a couple of fans finding the funny side.
And then some even made comparisons to players past and present, both for rival teams and their own…
Gerd Muller and Henrik Larsson are two players who would clearly be pleased with such a finish whilst another reminded people that Brown had scored more than Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos.
