da jogodeouro: Having returned to winning ways in the Premier League by beating Leicester at home last weekend, Manchester United will be looking to keep the momentum going when they travel to the London Stadium to face West Ham.
The corresponding fixture last season also took place in September, and Manuel Pellegrini’s side pulled off an impressive 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Felipe Anderson, Marko Arnautovic and an own goal from Victor Lindelof. If the Red Devils are to avoid an upset this time around, then they will need to stop one of the Hammers’ goal-scorers from that day.

Anderson enjoyed a field-day coming up against United wing-back Ashley Young, providing three key passes and seven crosses. This Sunday afternoon however, the Brazilian will have his work cut out against Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The summer signing has hit the ground running at Old Trafford, and judging by the numbers of both players this season, it promises to be an enthralling contest.
Since arriving from Crystal Palace in a £50m deal, Wan-Bissaka has immediately endeared himself to the United faithful. The 21-year-old’s refreshing no-nonsense approach has made him a winger’s nightmare, constantly trying to defend on the front-foot and snapping at heels. His 28 tackles in the Premier League is the highest of any player in the division, and is four more than the man in second, Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira.
Coming up against him will be Anderson, who will no doubt be looking to kick on even further after his first season in English football last year. The Brazilian has averaged an impressive 2.8 dribbles and 1.8 key passes per game in the league, and is one of Pellegrini’s go-to players up front.
In a 2-0 win over Norwich earlier this season, the 26-year-old made a ridiculous seven dribbles as he tormented the Canaries with his direct approach.
As such, Wan-Bissaka will have to keep a particularly close eye on the winger, and ensure he doesn’t have the room or space to simply run at him or thread balls in behind the United defence. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer signing can keep a lid on the Hammers attacker, then the Manchester side have every chance of making it two wins from their last two league games.
